Off The Record docuseries Episode 2 “What It Sound Like”

Episode 2 traces Torae’s journey as an MC, starting as a young kid with a maxed out credit card on a self- pressed vinyl single, which lead to his work with The Coalescence and breakout singles “Click” and “Get It Done” with Skyzoo and DJ Premier. Reeling from the support and new fan base he established, he then signed to Duck Down Records where he released the critically acclaimed joint effort “Double Barrel” with producer Marco Polo. The stage is now set for what is next to come: the recording of his debut solo album. With bills to pay and a family to feed, Tor knows he can’t live on props alone; with this album it’s make or break.

Episode 2 features appearances by DJ Premier, Skyzoo, Marco Polo, DJ Eclipse, Rich Ahee, and Noah Friedman of Duckdown Records. You can view Episode 2 HERE.

Off The Record docuseries Episode 1 “Alive”

The Urban Daily will debut an episode every Wednesday in August. You can view Episode 1 HERE.

Torae – Off The Record: The EP

“I worked very hard on For The Record and recorded a lot of tracks with different producers. Some songs didn’t make the album, not because they were wack, but because I didn’t want to over saturate the project & storyline. Off The Record is something for true Torae fans. Songs that deserve to be heard. Think of it as The For The Record, Lost Tapes.” says Torae.

Off The Record will be released digitally via iTunes and other online retailers on Tuesday, August 28 2012.

2) New Day – prod. by Da Beatminerz
3) Steady Mobbin’ – prod. by 9th Wonder

Torae – That Raw (Official Music Video)

“In a time where being lyrical is considered illegal, I continue to give you That Raw”

Our very own Torae has released the video for That Raw, the latest single from the recently released “For The Record”. Directed by Brian Robinson of Hyerground, the video is a three vignette story set in a time where being lyrical is considered criminal and selling “That Raw” is illegal. Scene one features “Street Hustler” Torae dealing words to a hungry customer in need his finest product. Scene two is set in an abandoned warehouse where product is being bagged up for shipping in this homage to the famous scene from “New Jack City.” In scene three, Torae pulls up to the final meeting spot, where he makes his biggest score yet – an ending that is sure to be both surprising and thought provoking.

Rap Is Outta Control (5/6/12)w/ O.C., O.Gee, Showbiz & A.G.

With most of D.I.T.C. in the place they built on all of their latest individual projects as well as what it took to get the entire crew back into the studio. O.C. & Apollo Brown’s “Trophies” album dropped recently (and is incredible) and you can grab Showbiz & A.G.’s “Pre-Loaded” HERE. “Pre-Loaded” is just a warm up to get you ready for “Mugshot Music” which drops later this year. AND they are 9 songs deep into the D.I.T.C. album as well. Playlist after the jump.
