“While the world has certainly changed since 1998, The Miseduction of Lauryn Hill is as relevant then as it is now. We sat down with Lauryn to find out exactly what that album meant to her while she was making it and why it went on to become a classic.”

Instead of my usual “iTunes Most Played Track” this week I spoke with the homie Scott Marlowe of teamyee.tv & gave him my current favorite 5 joints for their Playlist. Check what I’m jamming to these days at Angela’s.
Well there were a lot of pictures & video taken last week at the “Outta Here” shoot so I’m gonna assume these will be rolling in, in the upcoming days. This BTS is courtesy of Rap Relapse, thanks fellas.
This is by far one of my favorite records. I’ve had this beat for like 4 years I always wanted to use it but I never had the project, song idea etcetera so once I decided to do Heart Failure I pulled it out the stash. I played it for Lydia Caesar along with a few other but she loved this beat. She wrote the hook and bridge around my verses & then we tweaked a few words here & there together. The end result is Love Is War. It’s been a favorite of men & women since it’s release. I guess everyone can relate to being fed up in one way or another. Be on the look out for Lydia too, she’s an amazing singer, songwriter & performer…
I wanna thank everyone that came out to the “Heart Failure” release party last week. It’s always a humbling experience when I see the people that actually support my movement. I don’t wanna name names but I had some really amazing people come out last Thursday. THANK YOU ALL. Shouts to all the sponsors of the event as well. There were a few photographers in the building for sure, salute you all for the coverage. Click HERE for pictures from the release party courtesy of Photo Rob.
And now on to the reason we were celebrating. “Heart Failure” is available for sale NOW!!. In the 1st day we were able to crack the top 200 on iTunes, today I’d like to hit the top 100 or even top 50. I can’t do it without yall though. Head over to iTunes, leave a comment & grab a song or two….or eleven, haha. Thanks, without you there no me. Real Rap!
So with the release of any new project comes radio & press. Salute to every journalist & radio jock that gives a good got damn to sit & speak with me and a bigger shout to everyone that sits down to read or listen to a Torae interview. With that said the homie Amanda Bassa wrote a dope 2 part piece on me entitled “Bar Enlightenment” for The Well Versed where she chose a few lines of mine & I did the knowledge on ’em. I also chopped it up with the homie 730 from HipHopGame for a nice little write up that started off speaking about Heart Failure but ended up talking about 6 grader classroom outbursts, social networks & the documentation of blow jobs, hahaha very interesting read indeed. For shits & giggles I’ll throw in the audio of my time with the legendary Tony Touch on his Toca Tuesdays show on Shade 45. I went for about 20 good bars….definitely decent.
(Interview footage coming soon)
Well folks the day is upon us. Flowers, cards, candy & a whole bunch of other unnecessary BS. Don’t you people know all you need is love & music. Allow me if you will to provide a nice soundtrack for all of this evenings festivities. Play this on your way to the restaurant, hotel or while you’re in the back set of your jeep swinging an ep’. Word to James Todd Smith.
I had a real hectic week, so I was definitely on some mellow ish in my very minimal down time. The iTunes/iPod play tracker says this weeks winner is Miguel. I guess I’ll set aside my dislike of his questionable album artwork & still give the homie a post. His new single “Sure Thing” goes!
Sidebar: I’d love to see the royalty statements on “All I Want Is You” that song is on the radio like every 4 songs!! Here’s to a new single, let’s get this one in the rotation PD’s.
Here’s where the whole Heart Failure project begins on this song. All good right? let’s see where it’s at 11 tracks later. Big up to Woody on the beat & Mike Shorey on the hook. Lemme throw in some classic Mike Shorey & Fab after the jump.
