Episode 2 traces Torae’s journey as an MC, starting as a young kid with a maxed out credit card on a self- pressed vinyl single, which lead to his work with The Coalescence and breakout singles “Click” and “Get It Done” with Skyzoo and DJ Premier. Reeling from the support and new fan base he established, he then signed to Duck Down Records where he released the critically acclaimed joint effort “Double Barrel” with producer Marco Polo. The stage is now set for what is next to come: the recording of his debut solo album. With bills to pay and a family to feed, Tor knows he can’t live on props alone; with this album it’s make or break.
Episode 2 features appearances by DJ Premier, Skyzoo, Marco Polo, DJ Eclipse, Rich Ahee, and Noah Friedman of Duckdown Records. You can view Episode 2 HERE.
In the first episode of Torae’s docu-series “Off The Record”, Torae, his mother and childhood friends, discuss his life growing up in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn, personal challenges he encountered as a kid, his introduction to Hip-Hop and his first live show. The Urban Daily will debut an episode every Wednesday in August. You can view Episode 1 HERE.
“In a time where being lyrical is considered illegal, I continue to give you That Raw”
Our very own Torae has released the video for That Raw, the latest single from the recently released “For The Record”. Directed by Brian Robinson of Hyerground, the video is a three vignette story set in a time where being lyrical is considered criminal and selling “That Raw” is illegal. Scene one features “Street Hustler” Torae dealing words to a hungry customer in need his finest product. Scene two is set in an abandoned warehouse where product is being bagged up for shipping in this homage to the famous scene from “New Jack City.” In scene three, Torae pulls up to the final meeting spot, where he makes his biggest score yet – an ending that is sure to be both surprising and thought provoking.
Here’s last weeks RIOC show. No guests but there were plenty of new joints to play. Also, Eclipse will be filling in for DJ Premier this Friday as he’s out with Nas on the Rock The Bells tour. You can catch him (usually) along with Panchi on Fridays on “Live From HeadQCourterz” on Hip Hop Nation Sirius XM and then Torae, J57 and myself on Sunday nights on “Rap Is Outta Control”. 10pm-12am. Playlist after the jump.
Illa Ghee & DJ Skizz were our guests on “Rap Is Outta Control” this past Sunday. We played joints off Ghee’s recently released album “Spectrum” and a couple off DJ Skizz’ upcoming producer album. Aside from that was a ton of new music and of course I nice freestyle from Illa Ghee at the end of the show. Playlist & links after the jump.
This is that NY filth I’m looking for from the Mobb. I love this more!
We finally we the visual to the record that’s rocking the city right now. I’m definitely digging the NY unity in this clip, mad cameos, plus my homies from Cavoda Vodka got a nice look in here. Hit the jump for that OG version tho’
We had the homie Sauce [ll] on Rap Is Outta Control a few weeks back. We spoke about ghostwriting, the current state of music & of course I had to ask what his relationship with Jay Z is like now. Full show & playlist after the jump.
I wanna thank everyone that came out to the “Heart Failure” release party last week. It’s always a humbling experience when I see the people that actually support my movement. I don’t wanna name names but I had some really amazing people come out last Thursday. THANK YOU ALL. Shouts to all the sponsors of the event as well. There were a few photographers in the building for sure, salute you all for the coverage. Click HERE for pictures from the release party courtesy of Photo Rob.
And now on to the reason we were celebrating. “Heart Failure” is available for sale NOW!!. In the 1st day we were able to crack the top 200 on iTunes, today I’d like to hit the top 100 or even top 50. I can’t do it without yall though. Head over to iTunes, leave a comment & grab a song or two….or eleven, haha. Thanks, without you there no me. Real Rap!
So with the release of any new project comes radio & press. Salute to every journalist & radio jock that gives a good got damn to sit & speak with me and a bigger shout to everyone that sits down to read or listen to a Torae interview. With that said the homie Amanda Bassa wrote a dope 2 part piece on me entitled “Bar Enlightenment” for The Well Versed where she chose a few lines of mine & I did the knowledge on ’em. I also chopped it up with the homie 730 from HipHopGame for a nice little write up that started off speaking about Heart Failure but ended up talking about 6 grader classroom outbursts, social networks & the documentation of blow jobs, hahaha very interesting read indeed. For shits & giggles I’ll throw in the audio of my time with the legendary Tony Touch on his Toca Tuesdays show on Shade 45. I went for about 20 good bars….definitely decent.
(Interview footage coming soon)
So for my 2nd Pillow Talk installment I figured let’s really go there! And who better to go in with than adult film star Lethal Lipps. This interview was just as fun as the one with Dee, but in a whole different way. Enjoy!!
Currently the MOST slept on MC, I’m right after that though, hahaha. Shout to the homies Reks, Preem, Statik & the whole ShowOff/Boston crew. This shit is a MONSTER!! Oh & YES they hollered at me to be in the video they shot in Coney Island, but I was outta town. #Respect
Head to iTunes & SUPPORT some real sh*t for a change.
We’re celebrating the release of Heart Failure on February 10th & you’re all invited. Open bar 7-8:30pm provided by Pool Vodka, pastries provided by Con Amore & sounds courtesy of DJ Blazita, Meka & DJ E Holla. You can pre-order or sample Heart Failure here.
Since this made it’s way on to the net I have no problem posting it, but I got so many unreleased Sean Price records/verses it’s ridiculous. Said to be a lost track from Random Axe enjoy this one verse madness, P!!!
Sean Price – Untitled (Download)
It’s not too often you’ll see a Gucci Mane post up here, but if you see it click it, cause I’m clownin’. I wish I could take credit for this photoshop phenom but I can’t. Maybe we were just on the same brain wave. Either way, salute that man!!
Initially I was posting this clip for Lil’ Kim’s ole Nicki Minaj hatin’ ass, but as I sat through the torture of waiting for her to take the stage I noticed something more disturbing then her new, new nose. Why in the f*ck are there 4 guys in army fatigue dancing to “Freak Gurl”?? Not that I’m saying have some half nekkid ladies on stage either I mean that’s what Kim is for but why have these horribly choreographed Q dog rejects up there. Wait, wait…do these niggas have on capris with fringes on the bottom?? iQuit!! Freaky indeed.
I swear I still play Illmatic at least twice a month…
If you can stomach Tim Westwood for this 10 mins check it out. If not I TOTALLY understand. & WTF is he dropping bombs for during the interview?? SMH, anyway Nas talks about Ye’ & RZA & Preem possibly being a part of the “magic moment” his new album will be. Speaking of Nas & Preem whatever happened to that collabo album? *keeps dreaming* classic Nas & Premier after the jump.
This @RickyRozay album has been all the rave on these interwebs & skreets. I’d like to know what you all think. Is it more hype then heat or vice versa. Lemme know something. I won’t weigh in just yet, but I will say “the new Biggie” NOT….
Anyways “Teflon Don” is out there now for your purchasing pleasure. As always if you feeling the music make sure you support it. Bawwwwse!!!
